Meet my papermache homage to all those who go coldwater swimming. This Magsie is handmade by me from old magazines particularly from articles about the benefits of coldwater swimming. Her name is Stargazing - hopefully for obvious reasons. (I gave the starfish a smile as we all know the swimmer will put the starfish back in the water soon.) Her swimsuit is actually made from images of water and the villages along the coastline and she has many words and phrases on her that I hope her future owner will discover the longer they look. She has a lovely healthy lobster hue to her - anyone who has been in the north sea will agree that this skin colour is the norm after a quick dip! The cold is also the reason she has her neoprene gloves and shoes on.
All my Magsies are fairly sturdy pieces of papermache and have been varnished several times however they shouldn't be left in direct sunlight. This particular Magsie is approx 27 cm tall (including her 2cm base made from locally sourced wood). Her bright orange hat is made from an old jumper and is removable. She however is not happy with her hat/swim hair so please remember that when you remove her hat.
PS. Magsies are the biggest figures in my papermache range and are always made from old magazines - hence the name. The others in this range are called Zinis, Teeny weeny Zinis and Zinimations. I'm sure I'll think of more names inthe future! :D
