Welcome to wooltide

collected and created

Handmade characters, creatures and creations... all from recycled, preloved and precious pieces of clothes and materials.

During the current Covid-19 crisis my online shop will remain open but I will only be posting items when it can be done safely. I will let you know when I am able to do this. In the meantime

I hope you stay safe and well. x

"Jen - these are wonderful! You are a creative genius. Thank you so much." Nanette

"The hookhead has arrived and I am still smiling. It's honestly perfect. My friend will love it." Christine

"Thanks so much for sending these (hookheads) off, packaged so beautifully! They look great!" Janey

This is a wooltide commission made in 2019 for a local and beautiful holiday home near St Andrews. These 10 stags now are well at home in the Boot Room.

"I absolutely ADORE them. Thank you for taking such care to get everything perfect - they really are fab." Louisa

wooltide commissions

If you are interested in a commission please get in touch with me. I will need photos of your animal from different angles and I will also need to know of any important distinguishing features! I do make every effort to capture the essence of the animal in question however you must remember that I am working with preloved fabrics and the end result is a not going to be an exact replica of your beloved creature! :D Here are some examples of commissions I have done in the past.

"Absolutely LOVE the dog hook. You've got him to a tee! Thank you so much." Avie

"Arrived today - he is lovely. You've even got the little fold in his ear. Thank you." Gill

"Just wanted to let you know that I got my kitty coat hooks today. I just adore them." Karrie

About wooltide

My name is Jen and I live with my family, Tess the dog and Daisy the campervan in the East Neuk of Fife, Scotland. I am a self taught textile artist and have been making for quite a few years now. I have always used recycled materials for all sorts of reasons...environmental as well as my love of textures, patterns and history of the fabrics I use. My workshop is full of bright colours and I live on the coast and am even lucky enough to see the sea from my window. The items I create are often useful and practical as well as decorative with a hint of humour thrown into the mix. I actually have been known to giggle while I make...I hope this is reflected in my work.

"Thanks so much for my panda bear and whippet hooks. They are brilliant and much loved! And for getting them to me so quickly." Katie

There is so much more!

Please note that I have many more products available. If you have seen something at one of my events and it is not displayed here - please feel free to get in touch with me. I might well have it in stock (I just haven't put it online yet) or I can possibly make it for you.
